A MESSAGE FROMCK HOFFLER ABOUT HER WORK AS A SERVANT LEADER AND FIGHTER FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE
Over the course of my 32 years as a lawyer, I have been blessed to be on the forefront of social justice in this country and internationally.
As counsel for Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr. and his organizations for 31 years, I have travelled the world and worked with this iconic civil rights leader on many social justice issues including: voter rights, voter suppression, diversity and inclusion, election protection and other forms of social justice, to name a few.
My partnership with Reverend Jackson and his movement elevated my passion for social justice, which I bring to the NBA. As a lawyer in the late 1980s, I began my career handling international issues and representing foreign governments mainly in Africa and the Caribbean.
This valuable work allowed me to participate in the first democratic elections in 2 sub-Saharan African nations and awakened my sense of voter protection and fairness internationally. My language skills, international background and experience over 3 decades, also inform my global vision for the NBA.
Working with Willie Gary, Lorenzo Williams and other magnificent lawyers at the Gary firm for over 13 years as their law partner and a division head, was one of the most rewarding and empowering experiences of my entire legal career.
Trying cases with Willie Gary, who is one of the world’s greatest trial lawyers and representing hundreds of thousands of clients who were injured, discriminated against or victims of corporate greed and malfeasance, set the stage for my passion for social justice through the courts, all of which I bring to the NBA.
